This document explains the collection, use, and disclosure of “personal information” by SocialWhale. For avoidance of doubt, this Privacy Policy does not apply to any of the websites operated by affiliates of Social Whale.
In this document “personal information” means information that would allow a party to identify you such as, for example, your name, address or location, telephone number or email address.
By accesing our web site or using any of our services, you are accepting the practices described here. Additionally as our service is powered by twitter, you may want to read their privacy policy terms.
Information Social Whale collects
We collect personal information at several places on the Website, including without limitation:
- User information from your twitter account (although we do not collect your email address or your phone number)
- Twitter username and password in case you login with the basic auth system. Those credentials are stored only in cookies and Social Whale is not storing them anywhere else.
- Status updates that appear in your favorites and status updates that appear in groups. In case your twitter account is protected we do not allow other people to add your status updates in groups.
- Social Whale keep logs whenever you visit our web site. This Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type, the web pages you visit, the search terms you use, and any advertisements on which you click and we use it to monitor the use of our web site and our service.
- Social Whale is using cookies to improve our web site and service. You can avoid this by changing the settings of your web browser but then it would be probably impossible to use our service.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your personal information with our contractors and service providers in order to maintain, enhance, or add to the functionality of our web site and services. Additionally we may disclose your personal information to third parties in a good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) take action regarding suspected illegal activities (b) enforce or apply our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy (c) comply with legal process, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order or (d) protect our rights, reputation, and property, or that of our users, affiliates, or the public.
Third Party Web Sites
Our websites may include links to other websites. You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third party sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other websites.
Children
Consistent with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personal information from anyone under the age of 13 without requiring parental consent. Any person who provides their personal information to Social Whale through the Websites represents that they are 13 years of age or older.

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will also revise the Effective Date above (under the title of this page). We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed about how we are protecting the personal information we collect. Your continued use of the Websites constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any updates.
